Tehran, Iran

Tehran is the capital of Iran and Tehran Province. With a population of around 9 million in the city and 16 million in the wider metropolitan area, Tehran is the largest city and urban area of Iran. The most famous landmarks of the city include the Azadi Tower, a memorial built during the Pahlavi period, and the Milad Tower, which was built in 2007. Tabiat Bridge, which was completed in 2014, is considered the third contemporary symbol of the city. Among these spots one could speak of Golestan Palace, the royal seat of Qajar monarchs and a UNESCO World Heritage Center. This majestic royal complex contains priceless items from the long reign of Qajar dynasty as well as more than a dozen halls each unique in design and material used in its internal decoration.

Shiraz, Iran

Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province and a treasure trove of Persian culture. It is also the former capital of Iran, during the Zand dynasty's era (1747-79), and also the celebrated birthplace of the great Persian poets Hafiz and Saadi. Historical sites are major aspect of Shiraz tourism. Apart from Persepolis, the ancient capital of Persia which is located about 60 km away from Shiraz, there are dozens of fabulous and diverse monuments of historical and cultural significance in the city. Among these historic spots one could speak of Vakil Bazaar, Mosque and Public Bath and Arg of Karim Khan (all built in Zand era when Shiraz was the capital), Qavam House and other historic houses of prominent Shiraz politicians and artists, religious buildings embellished by the matchless artistry of the past such as the Holy Shrine of Shah Cheragh and Nasir ol Molk Mosque. Apart from historical sites, some of the finest examples of Iranian gardens are in Shiraz. These include Eram Garden, an 800 years old Garden with a magnificent palace surrounded by millions of plants of every shape and color, Afif-Abad Garden, another prime instance of Iranian gardens and Delgosha Garden, an ancient garden brimming with orange blossoms and citrus trees.
